Fans of the classic horror and suspense comics of yesteryear will be happy to hear about the upcoming publication of FIENDISH FABLES, a new anthology releasing from Brain Scan Studios in March 2007. Look for it in the January issue of Diamond Comic Distributors’ Previews catalog.

The purpose with FIENDISH FABLES was to assemble a collection of creepy tales inspired by the classic horror comics that defined the genre. This anthology includes seven tales by EnemyOne writer John Schlim, plus two stories by talented guest writers, all brought to life by an amazing group of artists. Prepare yourself for marauding zombie kids, a bloodthirsty vampire horse, vengeance-seeking storybook creatures, a wild west monster, the debut of Goth Ghost Girl, a ghastly gallery, and much more! The book features an amazing pulp-inspired cover by David Wachter.
48 pages | Black & White | Mature Readers | $3.50 US | Brain Scan Studios

Thanks for posting this, Adam.

After an unexplained two-week delay by Diamond, FIENDISH FABLES is now in stores! Dave Wachter's cover seems to be getting attention: I've heard that big stores like Midtown Comics in NYC and Comicopia in Boston have given it prominent positioning. And I was thrilled to see front-page placement on the websites of Darktower Comics in Chicago and Midtown.

If only Dave's cover had been correctly featured in Diamond's Previews catalog and the marketing for pre-orders...

Of course I still want in. I'm sitting on so many scripts right now that I think I'm starting to feel a little penetration.

Okay, I picked up the book today and read it and I've got to call bullshit on the whole operation. Why, you ask? Because there's no fuckin' UPC code on it. We stood there trying to find it and there was no way to scan the book into inventory. You're a complete prick, John. Fuck you and fuck Brain Scan. Making people actually work at their jobs... Assholes.

That's weird. In fact, it's downright fiendish.

congrats john old pal! this is great stuff. and, you'll be happy to know, I picked it up at Midtown Comics and it definately had prominent placement on the racks. then I went to check it out at Forbidden Planet in Union Square to make sure you were getting some good rack time there, and lo and behold there she was, a beacon among the masses shining its light and calling readers with its siren song.

the first of many for you I hope.

I made my local comic shop order heavy on it, saying that whatever doesn't sell, I'll eat the profit on and buy. I've sold one, but I still may end up with something like seven copies.

Great work, man. Quite the teammate ;) I would have done the same but sadly no comic store here. :( Which is absolute bs cuz once I finally have somethin done I won't even be able to see it in person for months probably.
